Water Baptism
What is water baptism?
Baptism is an outward expression of an inward change. It’s a public declaration of how Jesus changed your life. Being baptized shows others that you’ve decided to follow Jesus, and allows them to celebrate this decision with you (Acts 16:31-34). We believe baptism is your next step after you say yes to Jesus — an outward expression of an inward change. It’s a bold, public declaration that Jesus has changed your life and that you’ve decided to follow Him. And it gives our church family the chance to celebrate that decision with you (Acts 16:31–34). Baptism isn’t what saves you — it’s a symbol and a celebration of the salvation you’ve already received (1 Peter 3:21). The same power that raised Jesus from the dead is the power at work in your life today… and that’s something worth celebrating.
Why do I need to be baptized?
Why does baptism matter? Because Jesus asked us to — and He showed us how by being baptized Himself (Matthew 28:19–20, Mark 1:9). When we take this step, we’re choosing obedience. It’s a way of saying, “I believe in Jesus, and I’m following Him” (1 John 2:3). And just like Jesus went public with His love for us, baptism is our moment to go public with our love for Him. It’s also a powerful picture of turning from our old life and stepping into a new one with Jesus — the only One who can truly change us (Acts 2:38–41).
When is the Best Time to get Baptized?
For anyone who has decided to follow Christ, baptism is your next step! Anyone who has dedicated their life to follow Him is ready to be baptized!
Do you baptize children?
As parents, we get the opportunity to point our kids toward Jesus, but their faith decision is ultimately their own.
Throughout Scripture, baptism always follows a personal decision to trust Jesus and follow Him (Acts 10:47-48). Because of that, we believe baptism is a next step someone chooses for themselves after beginning a relationship with Jesus. We encourage kids to take that step once they’re able to understand what it means and confidently express their own faith.
If your child has already made the decision to follow Jesus, start having conversations about baptism and what it represents. Create space for questions, listen well, and help guide them as they take ownership of their faith journey.
What's the difference between immersing, sprinkling, and other ways of baptizing?
Baptism by immersion is the model we see throughout Scripture and the example Jesus gave us. Going under the water symbolizes Jesus’ death and burial, as well as leaving our old life behind. Coming back up out of the water represents His resurrection and the new life we’ve been given through Him. Baptism is an outward celebration of the inward change Jesus has made in us.
Do I need to be baptized again?
If you’ve made the decision to follow Jesus but haven’t taken the step of baptism yet, we’d love to help you take that next step. Baptism is a one-time public declaration of the new life Jesus has given you — a moment to celebrate the inward change He’s already made.
We believe every step of obedience leads us closer to the life God has for us. He’s not asking something from you to make life harder — He’s inviting you into something greater, fuller, and more life-giving than you could imagine.
